How field detection works

A true fillable form (technically an AcroForm) has its input fields embedded as structured data inside the file, not just lines drawn on the page. Upload one and the tool reads that structure directly, building matching on-screen inputs that map to the real fields.

When there are no fields to fill

Not every form that looks fillable actually is. Some are just a flat layout with lines and boxes as regular page content, no interactive fields underneath. If nothing gets detected, that's what's happening, and Edit PDF is the workaround for placing free text instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my PDF has no fillable fields?

The tool will tell you none were detected. That means it's a flat or scanned form rather than a real interactive AcroForm. Try Edit PDF to place text manually instead.

Are checkboxes and dropdowns supported, or just text fields?

All common types: text fields, checkboxes, dropdowns, radio button groups.

Is my filled-in data saved anywhere online?

No, it's all processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Can I save a partially filled form and finish it later?

Yes, save your progress at any point, then reopen and continue filling in the rest in a later session.
